Romanian (Under)layer
The Romanian Embassy, in the context of events for the Romanian Presidency of the European Council, is organizing an art show by seven Romanian artists at Gloria Gallery. The exhibition will be opened by Ms Gabriella Massaci, Director of AnnART Gallery in Bucharest on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 7.30 pm.
The exhibition sheds light on symbols, traditions and key elements of Romanian spirituality. With multiple sources of inspiration, either the Byzantine East or the Far East, Romanian art has strong roots in the national mythology and history.
ln Romania, there has always been a mystical connection between man and nature, which tradition diversified, and artists brought it to fruition across time. With the present exhibition, a part of this history of ancestral significance was framed, with strong roots in Romanian spirituality, but with diverse cultural influences. Hence, AnnArt Galery have chosen paintings and sculptures by contemporary artists from different generations, but who stood out on the Romanian market, such as:
Ștefan Câlția, Sorin llfoveanu, Mircea Roman, Virgil Scripcariu, Gheorghe Fikl, Dorin Cretu and Constantin Rusu.
Their highest value lies in having emphasized, under a narrative form, the osmotic process through which the represented characters join zoomorphic or phytomorphic elements. And, when they move away from the figurative, what remains visible is the spiritual, transposed in the area of the abstract.
The exhibition opens on the 5th of June and will remain open until the 19th June 2019
