Larnaca Biennale 2018

Under the name Biennale Larnaca 2018, the first arts biennial ever organized in Cyprus will be hosted in the beautiful city of Larnaca Cyprus.

Being one of the oldest cities in the world with a rich history and culture stretching for more than 4000 years, along with it’s beautiful seaside location, nature and historical sites, Larnaca is an inspiration for all. Under the theme ‘Container and Content’ of the Larnaca Biennale 2018 curator Vassilis Vassileiadis , the open call for participation closed on the 31st of May, with 307 artists from 37 countries submitting their art! Through a voting procedure where the artists anonymity was kept, the five-member committee of Larnaca Biennale 2018 selected 114 artworks to be displayed and compete for the Grand Prix.

Artists from a wide age group and different countries will exhibit artwork representing almost all forms of visual art. In more detail Larnaca Biennale 2018 will showcase site-specific installations, paintings, sculptures , drawings , murals, video art, performances , photography and digital art.

The Biennial will take place between the 17th of October until the 30th of November 2018. The main exhibition will be hosted in three exhibition places , the ‘Myth Factory’ and two historical landmarks of Larnaca, the ''Municipal Gallery'' and the ''Pierides Museum''. Some artworks will be exhibited in outdoor spaces and entrance to the main exhibition places will be free of charge. Aside the main exhibition, the Biennial will host a series of art and culture related events throughout the city like concerts, theater, performances, workshops etc. Supported by The Cyprus Tourism Organisation, The Ministry of Education and Cultural services of the Republic of Cyprus, The Electricity Authority Board, The Municipality of Larnaca, Cobalt Aero (official air carrier ) , Happy Hosting (hospitality sponsor) , Dias Group (media sponsor) and a number of organizations and art institutions including the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts E.KA.TE.
