Cyprus : Short Export - Made in Germany

ARTos Foundation in collaboration with the Goethe Institut Cyprus , welcomes the program SHORT EXPORT - Made in Germany. SHORT EXPORT is a cooperation between AG Kurzfilm, German Films, Goethe-Institut Lyon, KurzFilm Agentur Hamburg and the International Short Film Festival Clermont- Ferrrand. This year's editions is an outstanding selection of seven short film that depict the vast artistic variety of the German short film scene, it is a selection of bizarre, exciting, moving and hilarious stories. The screenings will take place at ARTos Foundation on the 22nd of November at 20:00.

Annika Pinske, Germany 2016, fiction, 12’
Elsa is spending yet another afternoon at the strip club run by her father Carl. Irritated and overtired, he sends his daughter to the club upstairs to collect change. Waiting turn into boredom until an unexpected discovery grabs Elsa’s attention.

Ships passing in the night
Elisabeth Zwimpfer, Germany 2015, animation, 12’
Malaika lives in Europe, Pombalo in Africa. She collects stranded goods, he is a fisherman. His nets remain empty and he sets off to Europe. On the shore, they face each other as ships pass in the night.

Sophie Linnenbaum, Germany 2016, Fiction, 19’
Out of sheer loneliness, Paul ends up falling out of his frame. As he struggles to be seen again, he meets The Outtakes- a support group for people with film defects.

KAPUTT | Broken- The women’s prison at Hhoheneck
Volker Schlecht, Alexander Lahl, Germany 2016, animation, 7’
Based on interviews with former prisoners, this animated documentary provides a glimpse into the most notorious women’s prison in the former GDR. A film about political imprisonment, forced labour and enormous profits on both sides of the Iron Curtain.

Erik Schmitt, Germany 2016, fiction, 15’
While Berlin’s citizens attend to their absurd everyday activities, Kore is haunted by a black shadow- a menacing memory from the past. When a bear escapes from its cage, Kore must overcome her fears to save herself and her fellow Berliners.

HOME LEAVE - FROM AN ASTRONAUT’S SKETCHBOOK
Frank Winzentsen, Germany 2016, experimental, 14’
The film presents some biographical fragments from the astronaut’s childhood and youth, accompanies him on his first space mission, and showcases sketches and paintings he has done during his home leave.

A 50-Euro note changes hands and pays off all the debts of its successive owners – a parable on the current financial crisis and the theory of money circulation.
