Farewell Industrial Dogma

Cyprus : Farewell Industrial Dogma

‘Farewell Industrial Dogma’ is a demiurgic collection of handmade contemporary design pieces made by young designers from different cultural backgrounds. The exhibition presents twenty innovative pieces and has two focus points: primarily it presents the enticing impact that different cultural backgrounds have in the world of design. Secondly, it purposes in introducing a new mode in creating and viewing a design piece. The collection is representative of the Daitumn philosophy, which supports the fusion of art and design. A design piece no longer needs to be a complete creation of a machine, which produces mundane products in bulk. A design piece can be functional, unique and can be viewed as a piece of art. What makes this collection special is the fact that all the pieces combine the element of the human touch and conceptual thinking with industrial and machine processed materials. In result, all the pieces are unique, experimental and in complete opposition of the industrial dogma. The pieces indicate how fusion between art and design can break the mould of the conventional creation process and at the same time re-shape the aesthetic value of a functional product that is at the same time a unique piece of art.
