YouthAid Festival

Cyprus : YouthAid Festival

Minus One, Papiyion, Prospectus, Gommalar and Strange Union return on Monday 29 July 2013 at the Famagusta Gate Moat in Nicosia, 19:00 till midnight, to play for the YouthAid festival, after last Thursday’s rain made it dangerous to use the equipment and stage and forced the festival’s cancellation. The bands profess their excitement to share one night, one stage, one music dedicated to the power and the potential of the youth to shape their future as they desire. Youth Power will be unveiling the new YouthPowerLine.org website, aiming to support creative and entrepreneurial activities, while the network’s protagonists and partners will be available to show young people just how powerful they really are.

Minus One, Papiyion, Prospectus, Gommalar and Strange Union are excited to return to the YouthAid festival in order to support the most important asset Cyprus possesses: its young people. YouthAid is not about collecting food or donations. It is about helping young people understand that through creativity, hard work and social initiatives they can become empowered and expand their employment options in this time of financial and emotional depression.

For that purpose, Youth Power, funded by UNDP-ACT, is making its collaborators and partners available for a face-to-face conversation during the festival. YouthPowerLine.org, the multifunctional online platform, developed by Youth Power, aiming to be used by young people, companies and organisations as a tool for the promotion of their services and initiatives, building partnerships, linking job-seekers and job-givers, as well as an educational tool facilitating the promotion of social entrepreneurship will be unveiled during the event.

“Music is an international language which brings people closer,” says Antonis Loizides from Minus One. “Music can change the world because it has the power to change human beings, and we’re glad to be using this power to bring a message of strength to young people through YouthAid.” On a similar note, Strange Union say, “we are delighted to be part of this festival dedicated to all the young people on the island. We believe that music is a common denominator that unites us all.”
