When Aurora dies, her neighbour discovers the old woman’s past, including a wonderful and tragic love affair set in colonial Africa… Past and present, Portugal and Africa, servants and masters, songs and silence are the ingredients for a poem of images and sounds that resurrects an extinct world, a lost paradise, with great melancholy. Rare are those films that give the impression of reinventing cinema, of offering us an unforgettable experience. Tabu is one of them.
