Cyprus : A space in 300 pieces

Ιnteractive event on a site specific installation.

On Saturday the 4th of September the Aeschylou Arcade presents an interactive installation of the Greek visual artist Lea Petrou at the Ledras street check - point.

An ice cream cone with two lemon- flavoured balls is being served to the visitors. Each ball originates from and inevitably represents each one of the two parts of the island. Each cone is wrapped inside a specially designed and numbered paper wrap, one by one colored with a different shade of yellow.

Guests are invited to combine the possibly wrinkled and stained by ice wrapping paper, in a team and human dimensions 300 -puzzle pieces. This composition is in a constant state of flux during the exhibition and represents different color readings.

The visitors’ on - site movements looking for the right spot to place their square is a reminiscent of a choreography.

The completion of the floor-based plan is totally dependent on the visitors of the site and their willing for interaction.

The final image depicts a geographic area, which gradually evolves into another one, architectural space, the one of Ledras street check - point.
