"Prolongations in Red" by Ermioni Zacahariadou
Ermioni Zacahariadou is presenting her new work at Alpha Gallery. The exhibit opens on Wednesday 15 October and will be opened by the Minister of Finance Mr. Charilaos Stavrakis.
This is Ermioni’s eighth solo exhibit. It is entitled Prolongations in Red and included over thirty new paintings the artist created over the past several years. Through her new series of painting’s, Ermioni, who is well known for her bold colours and intense figures and still lives, concentrates on using the colour red. Her works highlight the colour red in its various shades which takes center stage on her canvas in strong, intense brushstrokes. As usual, she presents a range of subjects as the subject matter is secondary. To her, the primary objective to express feeling and mood through colour and to highlight this irrespective of the subject.
Ermioni Zachariadou was born in Nicosia in 1958. She studied art and panting at the Chelsea School of Art in England. She has presented her work in eight solo exhibitions in Cyprus and in numerous group exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad. Her paintings can be found in numerous state collections as well as in private collections in Cyprus and abroad.
