Dimitris Kalantzakis: Waterline
The Greek artist Dimitris Kalantzakis presents his first solo exhibit in Cyprus at Nicosia’s Alpha Gallery. The exhibit opens on Friday 3 October.
The exhibit entitled Waterline presents the artist's most recent series. It includes twenty paintings through which the artist explores the light, shade, and movement of the sea and the figures floating beneath the waterline. His works are full of abstract lines and expressionist movements that show the interplay of light and water.
Dimitris Kalantzakis was born in 1969. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Athens where he studies paintings with Panayiotis Tetsis and Dimitris Mytaras and engraving with Thanasis Exarchopoulos. He exhibited his work in solo exhibitions at Ersis Gallery and Adam Gallery in Athens and in numerous group exhibition in Greece. He also undertook the art applications on the well known Greek ferry vessels of Blue Star Ferries and Super Fast Ferries.
