Cyprus : Christmas Jazz Concert

Feel the Christmas spirit with all-time Christmas jazz songs, known to everyone, at Technopolis 20, on Sunday, 9th of December 2018, at 8pm. Kyriaki Steliou on voice, Loukas Loukas on piano and Alexis Anastasiades on double bass, put us in a festive mood for the holiday season with jazz tunes such as Christmas Song, White Christmas, Let it snow, Have you a self a Merry Little Christmas and many more.

A few words about the musicians
Loukas Louka is a Cypriot pianist and music teacher. He started studying classical piano from the age of 8. At the age of 22, he begun studying jazz piano with Cypriot jazz pianist Marios Toumbas and later he had lessons on jazz improvisation with Cypriot jazz guitarist Giannos Savvides. He participated for about 2 years in the Jazz Ensembles of the European University under the instruction of Marios Toumbas and also attended the “Jazz Futures” workshops that took place in Nicosia from 2008 until 2011, under the instruction of great jazz musicians from New York, such as Sacha Perry, Vahagn Hayrapetyan, Ari Roland and Chris Byars. In 2012, he succeeded taking the ALCM diploma in Jazz Piano of London College of Music. Since then, he has performed as a member in several jazz combos during various events in Cyprus. Loukas is currently teaching music in elementary schools and also performing jazz music in several jazz venues all around Cyprus.

Kyriaki Steliou holds a Music Degree from the European University of Nicosia with a specialty in Music Education and also a postgraduate student at the University of Nicosia in the Jazz Music. She teaches piano, choir, improvisation, and music theory. She has been professionally involved with singing in recent years, and she often appears with various music bands mainly in Nicosia. She has attended many music conferences, seminars and workshops both in Cyprus and abroad and has also been a member of the choir of the University of Nicosia in 2007 in Cyprus and also in Paris at Unesco events in the work of Faidos Kavalaris "Aphrodite Cyprogeneia". He has also taken part in the trans-Balkan Transform 2012, The Pandora's box, in Thessaloniki, with his own composition in video art, titled "Asphyxia". In 2014, at the European Music Teachers Conference EAS-2014, she presented her own research entitled "I Play with Sounds and Colors", a work that continues to this day and concerns the development and empowerment of children's self-confidence through improvisation, observability but also the imagination.

Alexis Anastasiadis is a Cypriot guitarist and contrabassist. He was born in Nicosia in 1967. At the age of 9 he began classical guitar lessons at Hellenic Conservatory and received a degree at the age of 17. He studied Economics, but at the same time he worked as a musician in New York and continued as a musician to date. In 2000, he started studying the double bass. He has been playing music in most of Nicosia's music scenes since 1993 on various music styles such as ethnic, rock and jazz.
