5th Afro Banana Republic Festival

We’re fast approaching that time of year again folks: time for the madness, fun and creativity of the Afro Banana Republic Festival! One of the most highly anticipated events of the summer, it will soon be bringing Kornos forest to life in the most otherworldly fashion. And it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before, recently earning international recognition as one of Europe’s finest festivals with the EFFE Label 2015-2016. This year has also seen the Bank of Cyprus become long term partners in innovation with ABR, as part of their broader strategy to support and facilitate the growth of creative youth led activities.

All you have to do is get your dancing shoes on, and prepare to be whisked away into an exciting parallel universe bursting with wild imagination, a brilliant touch of musical magic, and a great dose of artistic enchantment.

Expect explosive sounds by high calibre international and local musicians on three different stages, combined with dreamy aesthetics and unconventional creative performances, as the surreal meets the fantastical with plenty of surprises in the mix, for a vibrant weekend unlike the rest in a world that is light years away from everyday reality.

We don’t want to let on too much just yet...but we’ll definitely be rocking your socks off with captivating Afrobeat rhythms, world music, flamenco, ska and reggae, funk and post-funk, disco, techno, house and much more. And as you’re taken on an explosive musical journey, twelve creative projects with an interactive nature and theatrical character will be adding to the immersive experience.
