Day-z: Re-Branded

Cyprus : Day-z: Re-Branded

In ‘Re-Branded,’ Day-z presents her largest collection of work on show to date with a debut Cyprus exhibition at the Akamantis Business Center Gallery in Nicosia. Sponsored by KPMG in Cyprus.

This body of art explores the impact of advertising and consumption in popular culture. The work plays with the power of branding comically subverting the hierarchy and reinstating entrenched logos within a new context. Works such as the Charlie Chaplin and Chanel combinations demonstrate the role that brands influence in public consciousness and contemporary consumer culture. The art invites us to think about the effect of brands and how they make us feel by association. The subtle yet distinctive overlapping of famous faces with logos conveys a knowing humor whilst commenting on the notion of ubiquitous branding.

Some of the more intricate illustrations like Storm on The Sea and New Era, pay homage to the great artists like Rembrandt and reimagines them to be relevant in the new world. Through the depth of the ideas explored in 'Re-branded', Day-z shows us that in a time of ever more complex technology, a simple pen and pencil can still communicate a very powerful message.

Day-z Biography
“With a fine grasp on the allure of popular culture, Day-z injects depth into otherwise quotidian themes, reminding us just how extraordinary the impact of a creative mind can be.” After Nyne Magazine.

Day-z is a Greek Cypriot artist born in London and graduated in Fine Art at Central at St Martin's. Using a humble pencil and paper as the tools, Day-z fuses techniques learned from the old masters like M.C Escher and Dali with contemporary ideas found among street art and advertising like Banksy to form a signature style that combines fine art and street art. Day-z has been awarded the Derwent Art Prize 'People's Choice Award' and named as top 5 upcoming artists to look out for by The Saatchi Gallery Magazine.
